Malaysia, Saudi Arabia in security pact

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Saudi Arabia will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on security policy cooperation during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s visit to the country next week.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the MoU would cover cooperation against terrorism, drug trafficking, falsifying documents and crossborder crimes.

”For the first time, the home ministries of both countries will sign an MoU to enhance bilateral initiatives and approaches at the ministerial level and the police force,” he told reporters at Bukit Aman here Friday.

Hishammuddin said he would be accompanying the Prime Minister during the visit, starting next Wednesday.

Earlier, Hishammuddin held a discussion with Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Malaysia Mohammed Reda Hussein Abu AlHamayel to finetune the MoU, which would be signed in Riyadh next Friday. -- Bernama
