Pahang royal family greet people at mosque

KUANTAN: Pahang royal family members led by the Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah and his wife Sultanah Kalsom joined some 2,000 Muslims from all walks of life to perform the solat sunat aidilfitri prayers at Sultan Ahmad Shah Mosque in Jalan Mahkota here on Sunday.

Also present were Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah and his wife Tengku Puan Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman.

State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Wan Mohd Razali Wan Mahussin, state executive councillors and assemblymen also took time off to attend the khutbah aidilfitri prayers read by state imam Sharuddin Osman.

It was the only chance for the royal family members to meet the people during Hari Raya as there were no open houses in view of precautionary measures to contain the A (H1N1) flu.

Traditionally, after the prayers, there would be open houses. However, this year’s programme was different at the advice of the State Health Department.

After the prayers, Sultan Ahmad Shah, Sultanah Kalsom, Tengku Abdullah, Tunku Azizah and Tengku Abdul Rahman presented duit raya to the children and needy people outside the mosque.
