HARRODS, the brand synonymous with style and luxury, is now open at Suria KLCC.
The 370 sq m Harrods World Signature Shop and Tea Salon is dedicated to an impressive selection of the store’s branded signature merchandise from the ambient food range, which can be found in Food Halls in Harrods, London.
Apart from the Food Halls, the store features a bar area serving beverages and British cuisine throughout the day.
Inspired by the Georgian Restaurant at Harrods, the Tea Salon is a fine place to dine. The walls are adorned with framed memories and images from Harrods’ illustrious history.
Tradewinds Corporation Bhd chairman Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas said the store’s opening definitely set the benchmark for quality and sophistication in Kuala Lumpur.
“The history of Harrods goes all the way back to 1834 in London’s East End, when Charles Henry Harrod opened the first Harrods’ wholesale grocery store in Stepney.
“This store carried Charles’s special passion, tea, which has over the years led to the ‘super top secret’ Harrods Special Tea Blend.
“I am proud to say you can find this ‘Top Secret’ right here in Harrods Food Halls & Tea Salon Suria KLCC,” Megat Najmuddin said, adding that Charles Henry Harrod took over a small shop on the site of the current store in the district of Knightsbridge in 1849.
“Today, that same store occupies 1.8ha of land, with over one million square feet of retail space.
“Harrods has also expanded to many locations around the world, and we are proud to announce its presence in Kuala Lumpur,” Megat Najmuddin said in his opening speech.
Harrods’ partner in Malaysia is Amtek International, which is part of Tradewinds Corporation. Present to launch the event was former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was present with his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
Also present was Harrods Limited director Raj Assanand.
