NST CEO joins Pos Malaysia as MD

PETALING JAYA: The chief executive officer of The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd, Datuk Syed Faisal Albar Syed A.R. Albar has tendered his resignation to join Pos Malaysia Bhd as its managing director.

NSTP said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday that his resignation as CEO and also director would take effect on Oct 31. Syed Faisal, 42, has been the CEO and a director of NSTP since April 1, 2003.

Pos Malaysia said in a separate statement that simultaneously upon his appointment as the new group managing director/CEO, the current group chief operating officer Datuk Abu Huraira Abu Yazid would cease to be the acting MD/CEO.

Syed Faisal started his career with Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Kuala Lumpur in 1991. He also served with Price Waterhouse, San Francisco in 1995 and returned to Kuala Lumpur in 1997.

He joined NSTP in May 2000 as its financial controller and three years later, he was appointed CEO. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
