Chua Jr retains dad’s Labis seat

New MP: Tee Yong casting his vote at SMK Datuk Bentara Luar in Batu Pahat yesterday.
LABIS: MCA candidate Chua Tee Yong, 31, won the Labis parliamentary seat with a majority of 4,094, defeating Teo Eng Ching, 32, of the DAP.

Chua said that his victory showed that the sex video clip scandal involving his father, former health minister Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek, had no bearing on him. The senior Chua was also former Labis MP.

Tee Yong said he would work with state assemblymen Tan Kok Hong and Sulaiman Taha to ensure they meet the needs of the people of Labis.

Tan defended Bekok with a majority of 1,944; and Sulaiman, Tenang with a majority of 6,367. Bekok and Tenang are within the Labis constituency.

“I believe that the people of Labis still trust the Barisan due to the effort and hard work put in by the former leaders here in Labis,” said Tee Yong, who promised to do his best to serve the people of Labis.
