Hadi: Ahmad’s appointment not to be challenged

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Regency Advisory Council’s appointment of Datuk Ahmad Said as Mentri Besar is a decision made under the state Constitution, and as such must be respected without question, said PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Referring to Umno’s apparent defiance of the palace by disputing the decision, Abdul Hadi cited their actions as inappropriate.

He also expressed regret that the party had centred its agenda towards “trivial” matters, rather than what was in the best interests of the rakyat.

At a press conference at the state PAS headquarters here yesterday, he urged Umno to re-evaluate its political stand.

“It is saddening to see the internal dispute within Umno becoming an agenda that is placed before the importance of the state and its people’s betterment,” he said.

Abdul Hadi also commended the firm stand of the palace, stating that the palace had proven to the people that they were not puppets of the ruling coalition.

In KUALA LUMPUR, PAS Youth called on its Terengganu wing to file police reports against acts of putting up posters purportedly insulting the Terengganu Sultan.

Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub said the posters were seditious, as they had labelled the Sultan as natang which means animal.

Salahuddin, who is the Kubang Kerian MP, also claimed he had a thick file on Idris Jusoh.

He said he would bring this up in Parliament when it reconvenes.

“The question we must ask is also why is the Prime Minister so bent on having Idris Jusoh as the Mentri Besar?

“Why can’t he pick another of the 22 assemblymen?” he said.
