Royal birthday party

THE Kedah Women Government Servants and Wives of Government Servants Association (Puspanita Kedah) organised a joint royal birthday party for the Sultanah of Kedah, Tuanku Haminah Hamidun, and the Sultan’s daughter Datuk Seri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz at the Seri Negeri auditorium in Wisma Darulaman in Alor Star recently.

More than 1,000 people including wives of state dignitaries attended the bash.

There was an atmosphere of gaiety made possible by popular local artists Salamiah Hassan and Anuar Zain. Their entertaining presentations were immensely appreciated by the gathering.

To add colour to the occasion, the princess took to the stage to belt out an English and a Malay song.

Puspanita members from the Royal Customs and Excise Department and the districts of Kota Star, Yan, Pendang and Baling also put up performances to commemorate the occasion.

Models also paraded in a fashion show.

Happy occasion: Tuanku Haminah cutting her birthday cake. With her are Sharifah Noraziah (left) and Puspanita deputy chairman Datik Wira Norma Abdullah.
Earlier, Tuanku Sultanah and Datuk Seri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz cut their birthday cakes presented by Puspanita. The Puspanita Choir sang ‘Kasih bunga semarak’ and ‘Ketipang payung’.

A full-sized painting of Tuanku Sultanah and Princess Tunku Intan Safinaz were presented by Puspanita chairman Datin Wira Datuk Sharifah Noraziah Tun Syed Ahmad Shaha-buddin.
