Grand farewell for principal of SMK Notre Dame

MALACCA: SMK Notre Dame bade farewell to its beloved headmistress of 12 years with a grand ceremony.

Teh Soo Hoon said she was honoured to see about 1,400 teachers, students and heads of other schools attending her farewell do which included dances, appreciation speeches, poetry reading, singing and souvenir presentations.

Teh began her stint as a teacher 1977 at SMK Khir Johari, Tanjung Malim, Perak, before moving to SMK Canossa Convent, Kluang, Johor, where she served from 1978 until 1982.

She also served at several schools in Malacca including SMK Seri Tanjung, SMK Methodist Girls School and SMK Ghafar Baba between 1984 and 1996 before becoming the headmistress of SMJK Notre Dame.

Precious moment: Teh riding on a buggy and waving goodbye to her students in Malacca recently.
Teh graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, in 1977.

“I am going to miss this school very much and everything else related with the teaching profession,” she said.

“Probably, I will do some travelling with my husband who retired as headmaster of SM St David recently before deciding on what to do next,” she said.

Her colleagues sang praises for her contributions towards the school's development.

“She was a great administrator who brought many positive changes,” one of the teachers said.
