Wee lodges report with Suhakam over video clip

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bukit Bintang MP Wee Choo Keong has lodged a report with the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) expressing concern over the “conduct of parties involved” in the video clip featuring a prominent lawyer purportedly brokering the appointment of judges

Wee, who is named in the clip, handed a memorandum yesterday to Suhakam commissioner Datuk N. Siva Subramaniam.

He urged the commission to look into infringements of human rights under Section 12 (1) of the Human Rights Act 1999.

“I feel Suhakam is the next best alternative to a Royal Commission, as it has similar powers and accord similar protection to witnesses,” he told reporters at Suhakam’s office near here yesterday.
