Mukhriz stands by Youth decision

KUALA LUMPUR: As the son of the former prime minister, Mukhriz Mahathir did not find it difficult attending the Umno Youth exco meeting which discussed his father's attack on Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's administration.

“On the contrary, I enjoyed the meeting. I hate to disappoint you. The meeting today was a very rational discussion without any emotions.

“Everyone was in the spirit of brotherhood. Opinions were raised and the decision that resulted was an informed one,” he told reporters yesterday after the meeting.

Umno Youth made the stand that Dr Mahathir's comments were “personal, unwarranted, uncalled for and unfair”.

Mukhiz said he stood by the movement’s decision.

“We cannot stop him (Dr Mahathir) from asking questions,” he said, adding that the exco agreed that it had no right to stop Dr Mahathir from speaking out.
