Pos M’sia will unveil new mail plan today

POS Malaysia & Services Holdings Bhd will announce today a plan by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Pos Malaysia Bhd, to reclassify its domestic and international mail products.

In a statement yesterday, the company said the move was in line with international best practices and to facilitate greater automation of its operations.

Managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Ikmal Hijaz Hashim and chief operating officer Zani Hashim are expected to provide the details at a briefing.

The counter was suspended yesterday pending “clarification with the relevant authorities” on its latest move.

Cash-rich Pos Malaysia has made some efforts recently to improve its services to reflect the latest developments in international postal services.

For the first nine months last year, Pos Malaysia posted a net profit of RM61.2mil, compared with RM43.4mil in the corresponding period previously.
