Politicians should first set an example

I REFER to your report, “Zainuddin: Keep bahasa rojak out,” (The Star, Dec 7) on a plea by Deputy Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin to film producers not to use bahasa rojak, meaning not to mix languages in the films they produce.

I fully support such a move and have always done so.

But we must make an exception in entertainment, compared with official occasions.

Perhaps, the deputy minister would also urge and encourage his colleagues in the Cabinet to do the same as at present many of them are guilty of using bahasa rojak when speaking to the public or the press.

A good example set by them would encourage the rest of us mortals to follow suit.
