Mixed outing for Malaysia in second A1 GP race

LAUSITZ (Germany): Malaysia enjoyed a strong sixth place finish in the 18-lap sprint race during the second round of the A1 Grand Prix series at the EuroSpeedway here on Sunday.

But driver Alex Yoong finished 16th in the 38-lap feature race.

The results put Malaysia in ninth place in the standings of the World Cup of motorsports on 11 points.

In the first round at Brands Hatch in England, Malaysia were 13th in the sprint race and fifth in the feature race.

Sunday's action was dominated by France, whose driver Nicolas Lapierre won both the races.

Brazil, despite Nelson Piquet Jr failing to finish the feature race, lead the overall standings with 30 points, one ahead of France and New Zealand.

The third round will be held in Estoril, Portugal, on Oct 23.
