Malaysian public listed companies are invited to be considered for the Awards.
They will be assessed in four dimensions based on the Bursa Malaysia CSR Framework – Marketplace, Workplace, Environment and Community.
Companies are divided into two categories:
• above RM1 billion market capitalisation
• below RM1 billion market capitalisation
In each of the 2 categories, there will be 4 Awards – one each for Marketplace, Workplace, Environment and Community. Some key criteria in each dimension are outlined below.

- Stakeholder Engagement (Policies, engagement with customers, suppliers, government, civil society groups, media, investors, communities)
- CSR Management (Reporting, communications)
- Procurement & Code of ethics (Policies, training of employees)

- Codes of conduct & adherence to international standards

Code of conduct (Equal opportunities, health & safety, trade union rights)
- Health & Safety (HSE Management system, improvements, training)
- Human Capital Development (Training, appraisals)
- Work-life balance (Benefits, provisions)
- Working conditions (Induction, handbook, grievance procedures, communication with staff)
- Diversity & Equal Opportunity (Gender, special needs employees, minority groups)

Current environmental footprint (Measurement & reporting on CO2 & other greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water, waste)
- Goals for improvement (Targets, reductions, programmes)
- Environmental standards

The Process

Stage 1 – All public-listed companies are requested to complete an online questionnaire. The companies’ responses will then be assessed through a scoring system by an independent third party organisation, and the scores will form a basis to shortlist the top 50 companies.

Stage 2 – A quality review will be conducted of the shortlisted companies’ responses and supporting evidence submitted or published.

Stage 3 – The shortlist is submitted to a distinguished panel of judges who deliberate and decide on the awards’ winners.
