Nicol marches on, Wee Wern stumbles in Netsuite Open

Nicol David in action against Reyna Pacheco in the first round of the Netsuite Open.

PETALING JAYA: It was a breeze for Nicol David in the women’s first round of the Netsuite Open squash championships in San Francisco.

The world No. 3 Malaysian, who is looking to bounce back from a quarter-final loss at last week’s Al-Ahram International in Cairo, was just too strong for American wildcard Reyna Pacheco at the San Francisco Bay Club on Tuesday. Nicol, 33, needed just 18 minutes to dispatch world No. 81 Pachecho 11-3, 11-1, 11-3 to reach the quarter-finals.
