PETALING JAYA: At 2-1 down and with her fragile knee still troubling her, Low Wee Wern could have easily given up.

But the former world No. 5, making her first Tour appearance since an anterior cruciate ligament injury in April, showed her tenacious fighting spirit to come back and clinch an 11-7, 4-11, 9-11, 11-5, 14-12 win over France’s Coline Aumard in the first round of the Hong Kong Open.
