(Reuters) - Pessimism about the success of this year's Rio Games is misplaced, says U.S. water polo captain Tony Azevedo, who is confident that Brazilians will once again prove they have few peers when it comes to hosting a party.

Sceptics have questioned Brazil's ability to complete the construction of all the venues in time to stage global sport's showpiece, given the South American country's worst political and economic crises in decades and deep-rooted corruption.
