Azlan scores season’s first win at Suzuka

PETALING JAYA: Reigning SuperSports 600cc champion Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (pic) secured his first Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) victory of the season by winning Race 1 of the third leg in Suzuka, Japan.

The 33-year-old Malaysian rode superbly from pole position to finish the 13-lap contest in 29:09.539, almost a second ahead of his Manual Tech KYT Kawasaki Racing teammate Ahmad Yudhistira of Indonesia (29:10.177) and third-placed Anthony West of Australia (29:10.656) at the Suzuka International Circuit yesterday.
