PETALING JAYA: Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin (pic) bagged his third win of the season with a lights-to-flag victory in Round 5 of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix in Serdang, Selangor.
Starting from second on the grid, the Yamaha rider powered to the front from the get-go and held on to win in 15:59.423.
Teammate Ramdan Rosli finished a distant second in 16:08.169 while Ahmad Afif Amran clocked 16:08.466 to be placed third.
Kasma, who also won in Pahang and Johor, was pleased that his aggressive approach worked well.
“My strategy was to distance myself from the rest as quickly as possible. I didn’t want to get caught up with all the unnecessary jostling and fighting for positions,” said Kasma, who skipped the third leg in Perak in May to compete in the World Moto3 Junior Championship in Le Mans, France.
With yesterday’s 25 points, Kasma now leads the overall standings with 75 points. Ahmad Afif, the previous leader after winning in Perak, is second on 67 points.
