THE United States Golf Association (USGA) and the Royal & Ancient (R&A) this week jointly issued a statement that they intend to introduce a world handicap system in 2020, which would in effect bring about a common handicap acceptable across the globe.
Presently the existing handicap authorities around the world comprise Golf Australia, the Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) in Great Britain and Ireland, the European Golf Association (EGA), the South African Golf Association (SAGA), the Argentine Golf Association (AAG) and the USGA.
