PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Arie Irawan carded four birdies en route to posting a three-under 69 to earn a share of the lead in the second round of the RM250,000 PGM Sabah Championship.
The 24-year-old, whose round included a bogey, joined two Thais – overnight leader Sattaya Supupramai (71) and Pavit Tangkamolprasert (69) – on top of the leaderboard with a two-round total of six-under 138 at the Sabah Golf and Country Club.
Nils Floren of Sweden (71) and another local hopeful, Shaifubari Muda, who recorded the day’s lowest score of 65, were a shot adrift.
Arie hopes to ride on his recent run of good form as he chases his maiden win on the Tour.
“My form has been really good. I guess the hard work that I’ve put into my game is starting to pay off,” said Arie, who has three top-10 finishes this season.
