KUALA LUMPUR: Jhonnel Ababa of the Philippines stormed to the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the PGM Tour’s Penang Championship at the Penang Golf Club.
The 30-year-old carded a sizzling seven-under 65 to go to 15-under 201 for a three-stroke lead over Thai Atthaphon Sriboonkaew in the RM170,000 tournament day.
“Tomorrow (today) will be an important day for me. Hopefully, I can go out there and play the game the way I know I can,” said Ababa.
Ababa will be pursued by a number of Thais in today’s final round. Besides Atthaphon, the others still in with a shout for the title are Ratchapol Jantavara (205), Piya Swangarunporn (206), Thammanoon Sriroj (207) and Pravee Visalkit (208).
