SUBANG: Team Asia have made some minor changes to their line-up for the foursome format on Friday.
Team Europe grabbed a 5-0 lead after Thursday’s opening day four-ball format and this has prompted Team Asia captain Thongchai Jaidee to make the changes. Team Europe have decided to keep their winning pairs for the second straight day.
Thongchai will continue to partner Thai compatriot Kiradech Aphibarnrat, the Asian Order of Merit winner, in Friday’s opening match against Spaniards Miguel Angel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal.
Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung will team up with Indian Gaganjeet Bhullar while his first-day partner Kim Hyung-sung will combine with Prayad Marksaeng.
Anirban Lahiri has Siddikur Rahman as his partner while the Japanese duo of Koumei Oda and Hideto Tanihara will remain as a pair.
“We have a major task on our hands to overcome the deficit. They (Team Europe) are very strong and have the experience in playing this format. Our players had some problems with the climate and conditions today. I hope to sort this out and get them to play their normal game,” said Thongchai.
“It is not over yet, but we must work harder to overcome the first day’s loss,” he added.
