DUBLIN (Reuters) - Europe's Ryder Cup skipper Paul McGinley picked Sam Torrance and Des Smyth as his vice-captains on Thursday for the biennial clash with the United States in Scotland later this year.

"They were the first two people I had in mind for this role," McGinley told a news conference.
