KUALA LUMPUR: Asean is preparing to make a bid to host the 2034 World Cup.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the 10 nations which attended Thursday’s Asean Ministerial Meeting on Sports in Kuala Lumpur had agreed to conduct a feasibility study in their bid to jointly host the 2034 World Cup.
“Asean has less than four years to finalise the study and present it to their respective governments,” said Khairy.
“Four countries will play host and we have made it clear that Malaysia is keen to be one of them. The Asean Football Federation (AFF) will handle the mechanism of the organisational plans through the respective football associations,” said Khairy.
