Harimau Muda kids in danger of missing semis boat

PETALING JAYA: The Harimau Muda Under-16 boys semi-final hopes are in jeopardy following their 2-1 defeat to leaders PVF Vietnam in the Asia Champions Trophy (ACT) penultimate Group A match in Hanoi on Saturday.

The Malaysians are now left with a do-or-die mission in their last game against the same Vietnamese side in the reverse fixture at the Janda Baik Stadium in Pahang next Saturday (July 19).

Table-toppers Vietnam have clinched their semi-final berth in Group A with 25 points. The tussle for the other semi-final slot is between second-placed Harimau Muda (17 points) and third-placed Frenz Indonesia (13 points), who have a game in hand.

In Group B, Chonburi FC of Thailand and Frenz United Malaysia are through to the semi-finals. The Thai side lead the standings with 23 points - one ahead of second-placed Frenz Malaysia who beat Myanmar Academy FC 2-1 in Janda Baik on Saturday.
