PETALING JAYA: Pahang have been given a chance to get even with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), who deprived the Elephants of a place in the FA Cup final last season.
JDT had edged Pahang on the away-goal rule after the two teams drew 2-2 in the semi-finals.
“Our mistake last season was that we lost the first-leg of the semi-finals at the Larkin Stadium 1-0. That cost us a place in the final,” said Pahang skipper Razman Roslan, whose team won the return leg 2-1 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
And, as luck would have it, the two teams have been drawn to meet at the same stage of the FA Cup competition again.
Razman said they will be more cautious this time, having learned their lesson from last season when they allowed Leonel Nunez to score in the first leg of the semi-finals.
Pahang hit back in the return leg of the semi-finals to take a 2-0 lead through Argentine Matias Conti’s first-half brace. But JDT midfielder Andrezinho scored in the second-half to make the aggregate score 2-2.
“The bottom line is to return home with an advantage this time. We have learnt our lesson,” he said.
