PETALING JAYA: Terengganu finally secured their first away Super League win of the season, thanks to a 3-0 triumph over Armed Forces at the Selayang Stadium.
Having earlier drawn and lost three in their away matches, the Turtles were not expected to collect maximum points. But they came alive on Tuesday night with Abdul Manaf Mamat (24th), Mohd Norfarhan Mohd (78th) and Faiz Subri (90th) on target against an injury-hit Forces.
With the win, Terengganu remain as league leaders on a better goal difference than second-placed Pahang and third-placed Selangor. All three have identical 16 points.
Dickson Nwakaeme starred with a brace in Pahang’s 3-1 win over PKNS FC at the Shah Slam Stadium. The Nigerian scored in the 44th and 60th minutes while Fauzi Roslan contributed the other goal in the 63rd minute. Patrick Wleh netted PKNS’ consolation goal in the 72nd minute.
Selangor also ended the night on a high, beating Sarawak 2-0 at the State Stadium in Kuching. The Red Giants got their goals through Indonesian winger Andik Vermansyah (25th) and A. Thamil Arasu (53rd).
At the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru, Fazly Mazlan broke the hearts of the home team when he scored a late winner in Johor Darul Ta’zim’s 2-1 victory over Kelantan.
The Red Warriors started off well with Mohd Ghaddar Mahmoud scoring in the 17th minute. But Mohd Amri Yahyah drew level for JDT in the 33rd minute.
Two minutes from the end, Argentinian Luciano Figerua fed the ball for an unmarked Fazly to tap the ball in from close range for a well-deserved three points.
It was also a good night for T-Team as they lifted themselves off the bottom of the 12-team league to ninth on 11 points after a 2-0 win over Sime Darby FC at the Sultan Ismail Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
Perak dropped to the bottom of the league when they went down 1-0 to defending champions Lions XII at the Perak Stadium. Safuwan Baharuddin netted the winning goal in the 90th minute.
