KUALA TERENGGANU: T-Team assistant coach Azlan Johar and midfielder Khairan Ezuan Razali have publicly sworn on the Quran that the Larkin Stadium tunnel fiasco actually happened.
The duo, who witnessd the incident, swore on the holy scripture in the presence of Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, all the players from T-Team, the Terengganu FA and the press.
The duo, however, did not name who punched T-Team player Evaldo Goncalves in the tunnel during the first-half break of their FA Cup second round match against Johor Darul Ta’zim on Feb 1. T-Team then refused to come out for the second half, saying they feared for their safety.
Ahmad said it was not necessary to name the person involved in the bust-up.
“What is important is that we have people who dare to come out and swear on the Quran that the incident happened. Swearing on the Quran is a big deal and, hopefully, this will show the world that T-Team are not making up stories and are telling the truth,” Ahmad said.
Meanwhile, the T-Team player who publicly denied his team’s version of the incident, Irfan Ghani, is said to have resigned from the team.
Terengganu FA president Datuk Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid said they had received his resignation letter earlier on Monday.
