PETALING JAYA: Injured Pahang striker Dickson Nwakaeme won’t see action for at least a month.
The Nigerian has missed three matches since picking up a hamstring injury in the Charity Shield match against Lions XII in Kuantan on Jan 17 and has been advised to rest until he is fully fit to play.
Pahang coach Ron Smith said Nwakaeme will not be in his plans for now.
“I don’t want to rush Dickson and field him in the next couple of matches. He needs time to recover and I don’t want him to suffer a recurrence of the injury,” said a concerned Smith on Wednesday.
The former Kelantan striker is expected to sit out against Lions XII in the FA Cup second round match at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday and the Super League matches against Johor Darul Ta’zim (home) and Terengganu (away) on Feb 8 and Feb 15 respectively before the competition takes a three-weak break from Feb 15-March 8.
The three-week break is to allow the national team to wrap up their Asian Cup qualifying round fixture against Yemen on March 5.
Pahang fans will get to see Nwakaeme in action in the home game against Armed Forces on March 8.
