KUALA LUMPUR: Italian Andrea Guardini won Stage Eight but it was late signing Artem Ovechkin who made history for Malaysian cycling by winning the yellow jersey title (overall) for Terengga­nu Cycling Team in the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL).

The Russian held off a plethora of attacks in the final stage from Rembau to Kuala Lumpur yesterday to deliver the overall victory for Terengganu at Dataran Merdeka.
