Pro-Asia Cycling Team rider Anuar Manan is cheered on by fans during the climb up Genting in Stage Four of the LTdL race in KL on Sunday.
GENTING HIGHLANDS: It was a bad day in the office for Terengganu Cycling rider Adiq Husainie Othman.
The 22-year-old could only finish the Genting Highlands stage in Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) yesterday in 37th place, 10:25 behind winner Mirsamad Pourseyedigolakhour of Iran (Tabriz Petrochemical). In the general classification, Adiq is in 33rd spot, 10:35 behind Mirsamad.
"I have to admit that it wasn't one of my best days today. The strong riders in the peloton made it even harder for the stage," said Adiq, whose best overall finish in LTdL was in 19th place in 2012.
However, Adiq is looking to bounce back in the next stage on Monday from Karak to Rembau with a distance of 139.3km.
The stage will have two Category Three (medium difficulty) climbs with the last one just 10 kilometres from the finish.
"I'm really interested with the stage tomorrow because it offers two medium level climbs," said Adiq who finished fourth in a similar profile stage in 2012 LTdL.
"I rode at my own pace today and it wasn't a 100% effort for me. I think there could be a chance for a late breakaway to succeed in the stage tomorrow," said the 2010 national champion.
