PETALING JAYA: Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman and Sin Li Jane created history by becoming the first Malaysian champions on the prestigious Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour.

Siti claimed the first honour when she beat Li Jane 224-170 in the final of the Wichita Open on Sunday.

Li Jane, however, bounced back in the final of the Lincoln Open. She defeated Thashaina Seraus of Aruba 222-186 to finally bag her first PWBA Tour title after three attempts.

Li Jane was also the runner-up of the Greater Detroit Open last year.

Siti had a crack at the Players' Championship crown earlier in the day but could only finish fourth after losing 212-227 to eventual winner Liz Johnson in the first stepladder tie.

The Players' Championship stepladder finals was the first to be held on Sunday, followed by the Wichita Open, Lincoln Open and Greater Detroit Open finals.

Li Jane walked away with a US$15,000 (RM64,300) combined paycheque — US$10,000 (RM42,894) for her Lincoln Open triumph and US$5,000 (RM21,447) as the Wichita Open runner-up.

Siti picked up US$13,000 (RM55,800) for winning the Wichita Open (US$10,000) and US$3,000 (RM12,868) for her fourth-place finish in the Players' Championship.
