PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) have not ruled out the possibility of replacing national back-up bowler Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi who quit the team recently.
MTBC secretary-general Cheah Ban Cheng said the management committee would discuss the matter soon to see if there is a need to replace Zandra who quit the team to be with her footballer husband Safiq Rahim who plays for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).
“We certainly respect her decision to be with her husband (in Johor) and it would be in the best interest of all parties involved to let her leave.
“As for her vacant spot on the team, we have to think about it first. We might just let it stay open but at the same time it is possible to find a replacement,” he said.
Currently, the women’s back-up squad consists of Alisha Iman Cheong, Siti Aishatun Husin, Hee Kar Yen, Sharon Koh and Victoria Chin.
Meanwhile, the national keglers are back in the lanes for training after the Chinese New Year break.
However, they have to move their training sessions from the usual morning session to 5pm due to the National Higher Education and Institution Games (Sukipt) currently being held at the Sunway Mega Lanes in Sunway Pyramid.
“Everybody is back to work now as the holidays are over. The change in training to the evening session is just a minor adjustment to their timetable,” said Ban Cheng.
