KUALA LUMPUR: The Westports Malaysia Dragons kept up their clean home record in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) with a solid 82-72 win over Saigon Heat at the Maba Stadium.
The Dragons, who suffered a surprise defeat to the Singapore Slingers last week, were back at their best as they picked up their fifth win of the season.
A cagey first quarter saw the Dragons take a 15-14 lead and they narrowly edged ahead 34-31 by halftime.
The break did both teams a world of good as they came out firing in the third quarter.
But the Dragons always had their noses in front as they held to a 56-51 lead.
And they finally put the game to rest by outscoring the Heat 26-21 in the fourth quarter for the comfortable win.
Three Dragons’ players starred for the team with double-doubles.
Justin Knox top-scored with 22 points and 13 rebounds while Filipino-Tongan Moala Tautuaa had 18 points and 13 rebounds.
American forward Chris Eversley completed the top performance list with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Dragons, who now have a 5-2 record, will take on 2012 winners, Indonesia Warriors on Aug 29.
