Four highlights of the group stage

Finders keepers: Denmark’s Jan O Jorgensen throws his racquet to celebrate after beating Malaysia’s Iskandar Zulkarnain to earn the winning point in the Group D match on Wednesday. Denmark won 3-2.

*SCHOOLGIRL An Se-young won the deciding point for South Korea in a Uber Cup Group C tie against Denmark. The 16-year-old debutant hardly showed nerves in her 21-16, 21-12 win over Line Christophersen. Se-young and India’s 16-year-old Lakshya Sen, who stole a point from Lin Dan of China in the Thomas Cup Group B tie, are the youngest in the Finals.

*IF there is an award for a cool dude, Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark will win it for sure. He showed no signs of fatigue but fought confidently in an 80-minute match against Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin in a Thomas Cup Group D tie. After the match, the 30-year-old slumped on the floor – unable to stand up after the draining match. His point saw Denmark beat Malaysia 3-2.
