KUALA LUMPUR: Japan have avoided the embarrassment of being kicked out of the Asia Team Championships after both their men and women’s teams failed to arrive in Hyderabad, India, on time.

It took much discussion and debate at the team managers’ meeting on Sunday before the tournament referee decided to accommodate Japan’s request to join the competition one day later.
