BAM to appoint new head for training and coaching department

COPENHAGEN: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will have a new head for their training and coaching department by the end of this year.

“It was agreed that a separation between the management and coaching and training department had to be established,” said Norza, who is in Copenhagen with the Malaysian team.

“It was decided that we need one person to handle the training department and BAM will find that person by end of this year.

“We need someone to be accountable for the performances of the coaches and players. We, from the management, cannot encroach into that territory.

“Our president has already been talking to a few people but he has not disclosed any potential candidates.”

Asked if the new head will be given full authority to run the show, Norza replied: “Based on the spirit of discussion that we had the other day, we are trying to achieve that.

”BAM do not have a head coach or coaching director unlike many other teams at the World Championships, like China (who have Li Yongbo), India (P. Gopichand), Indonesia (Rexy Mainaky) and Japan (Park Joo-bong).
