Chun Seang falls in Vietnam final


PASIR GUDANG: Professional shuttler Tan Chun Seang’s hopes of winning his first international title this year went up in smoke after he lost in the final of the Vietnam International Challenge tournament in Hanoi.

The 28-year-old Chun Seang went down 17-21, 13-21 to local ace and World Championships bronze medallist Nguyen Tien Minh in 43 minutes.

In the semi-finals on Saturday, Chun Seang did well to beat Malaysian back-up shuttler Tan Kian Meng 21-17, 21-14. 

The challenges of Nelson Heg Wei Keat-Low Juan Shen and Sannatasah Saniru also ended in the semi-finals of the men’s doubles and women’s singles respectively on Saturday. 

Wei Keat-Juan Shen lost 8-21, 16-21 to Selvanus Geh-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia while Sannatasah went down fighting 24-22, 13-21, 16-21 to Taiwan’s Hung Shih-han.
