Recurve archers go down fighting in W-Cup semis

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian women’s recurve archers Nur Aliya Ghapar, Nur Afisa Abdul Halil and Loke Shin Hui’s gallant run has come to an end in the semi-finals of the World Cup’s opening leg in Shanghai.

World No. 31 Malaysia began their round of 16 campaign with a 5-4 win over world No. 17 Turkey before scoring a superb 5-1 quarter-final triumph over world No. 5 and defending champions Taiwan, whose archers – Le Chien-ying, Lin Shih-chia and Tan Ya-ting – were bronze medallists at last year’s Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
