Signs of manufacturing boom

KUALA LUMPUR: Signs of a manufacturing boom are emerging, with factory owners projecting higher output in the second half of the year on strong export sales and robust domestic demand. In the first half of 2017, exports grew 21% to RM451bil.

“Our latest survey results showed that business activity has remained fairly stable for Malaysian manufacturing firms in recent months, while the outlook for the second half of 2017 is favourable, with firms expecting business conditions to improve, especially local sales and production volume,” the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) president Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai(filepic) said.

KUALA LUMPUR: Business conditions for the manufacturing sector in Malaysia are expected to improve in the second half of 2017, according to a survey conducted by the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER).
