The subjects that are frequently touted in these success stories are the pure and applied sciences. The social science and humanities courses get scant attention on such occasions. This is not because these are not available in many of the colleges; it may be that students do not perform as well in these more demanding subjects that require skilled instructors and higher order skills not often taught in our local syllabuses.
