To-do list for improving road safety

Dozens of tipper lorries believed to be carrying construction materials into Singapore including sand and stones parked by the side of the road along Jalan Skudai causing massive jams around the city after they were alerted about Road Transport Department (JPJ) operations at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex.

IT is indeed reassuring to see the new Transport Minister’s hands-on approach in dealing with matters pertaining to road safety. There are many factors that come into play in road safety and I wish to highlight a few that the minister might wish to look into.

Recently, I had to change one of my tyres and I went to a nearby shop to get it done. When the mechanic removed the tyre, he told me the brake pads were worn out and asked if I wanted to have them replaced as well. I enquired about the price and he asked me if I wanted the original (OEM) parts or imitation ones. Obviously, the imitation ones were cheaper.
