Talk about mental health to dispel the stigma

AN attempted suicide has made the headlines again, “Drama in choppy waters as patrolman’s quick wit saves woman” (The Star, April 19). According to initial reports, one of the leading reasons for the woman’s desperate act was issues related to mental health. Thankfully, the person in this recent case was saved, unlike in other recent reports on similar attempts from height.

It has been reported that 29.2% of Malaysians have mental health problems now. This is of great concern to those of us who are involved with the care of these people and for the country as well.
