Upgrading skills could lead to better pay

ACCORDING to the Malaysia Institute of Economic Research (MIER), it is the low level of salaries and not the cost of living that is causing hardship to the people.

It was pointed out that the skills of workers are not improving while many employers are not upgrading their facilities to gear up for the fourth industrial revolution (IR4.0). Many of these employers take the easy way out by using cheap foreign workers, which leads to low salary levels.
