Wake-up call for tourism sector to adopt safety practices

THE stranding of 1,048 tourists and 78 workers in the Langkawi SkyCab cable car after the system experienced a technical fault on Sunday evening should serve as a lesson to all cable car operators in the tourism industry.

Kudos to the Fire and Rescue Department and Panorama Langkawi Sdn Bhd, a Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) subsidiary and operator of the cable car system, for their tireless effort to help bring down all the victims unharmed until midnight.
