Discuss homework and responsibilities for students

I REFER to the letter “Burdened by the push to excel” (The Star, Jan 19). The writer was quite accurate in pointing out that responsibilities such as becoming a prefect or class monitor are often forced upon students.

The push not just by teachers but even parents for their students/children to achieve almost perfect academic results might be the reason that many schools are placing unreasonable expectations when it comes to homework and extra classes.
