Good sense prevails in Pos Malaysia

I READ with dismay, then relief, a few news reports in The Star recently related to the upcoming Year of the Dog. The dismay stemmed from reading about T-shirt designs for the Dog and Pig Years leaving out the images of the dog and pig and another report of the dilemma faced by ang pow designers on whether to include the dog image or not.

However, I was delighted when I read that Pos Malaysia is releasing a new stamp series featuring Working Dogs (New stamp series pays tribute to working dogs, The Star, Jan 17). This is not because I’m a dog lover but because good sense has prevailed. Stamps are widely used by all so it is a huge message from a national agency that dog images are not offensive.
