Kathigasu is featured as an unsung hero in textbook

REFERRING to the letter “Earning a place in history” (The Star, Sept 22), I would like to set the record straight that the Education Ministry has NOT overlooked Sybil Kathigasu’s contributions to the country. She is among other Malaysian unsung heroes cited in the Year 5 textbook in its last chapter called “Real-Life Heroes”.

I am writing this in my capacity as a teacher. I’ve even shown my pupils clips of the dramatisation of Kathigasu’s heroic deeds and snippets from the Malay drama titled Apa Dosaku starring her great niece actress Elaine Daly as Kathigasu herself.
