Vital to teach students about the environment

JOHAN Jaaffar’s strong plea, “We have to be kinder to the environment before it is too late”, in “Nature’s ruin is Earth’s death knell” (The Star, Sept 18) cannot be overstated given the seriousness of our environmental degradation.

The Star readers should note that a 2010 study by the University of Adelaide’s Environment Institute placed Malaysia as one of the world’s 10 worst environmental performers according to the proportional environmental impact index relative to resource availability.
